Not bad uverse, not bad

After the installation last week, the service has worked pretty well.
18 Down/2 Up was promised and they're getting about
16 Down/1.5 Up so speed test is good.
Their slingbox broadcast quality improved markedly with the increased upstream bandwidth.
They liked that the ATT tech put clean covers on his shoes when he entered.

ATT uverse is finally in Miami Beach

I just ordered ATT uverse in postal code 33140 for a residential/home office user....$65/month for Internet only.

18 MB down & 2 MB up is the fastest residential Internet offering I've ever seen. I can't wait to see how a slingbox feed looks.

Keep one thing in mind if you plan on ordering: the sales reps are trained to transfer your phone, tv, and Internet so prepare your rebuttals. My cust had 2 ringmaster lines on the existing ATT home line (ringmasters can't be ported to uverse) and satellite TV service that's under a contract, so they were able to meet the conditions that ATT has apparently set forth if you want just the Internet by itself on uverse.

Logix Networks for domain registration and web hosting

I’m feeling excited about my new partnership with a huge player in the hosting business to offer a complete lineup of domain registration and hosting services. I want you to check out my new website: http://www.logixnetworks.com.

Customers can register a domain, host and build a website, and migrate applications like Exchange and SharePoint to a hosted platform. You get 24x7 phone support from a US-based help desk that can manage all aspects of your account. You don’t have to call before the accounting office closes at 5:00 PM to get a refund or pay for renewals.

I’m offering new and current customers of Logix Computers (my IT consulting/VAR business) a matching credit of their first Logix Networks order of up to $100. Money spent on Logix Networks services will earn you a matching credit of $100 of Logix Computers services.

Overall, I’m happy with the support from the Logix Networks help desk, which is a great benefit for my clients. A lot of small businesses and entrepreneurs work after hours and appreciate the help desk’s ability to completely manage their account 24/7. I’m also thrilled that I don’t have to send Logix Computers’ customers to Godaddy or Network Solutions when they need a domain name.

Vipre Enterprise antivirus

I own Logix Computers in Miami and have worked on a lot of small business networks in South Florida. I've been using Symantec for their corp AV products, and lately a lot of root kits and viruses have been infecting my users.

Unacceptable from a company like Symantec. Even worse are the constant notifications in the system tray about the SAV or SEP program being disabled. People love seeing their antivirus software do that and I once actually lost a customer because of it.

Colleagues suggested Trend, Kaspersky, ESet, etc. but I recently rolled Sunbelt's Vipre Enterprise AV after I heard they won some award for best new product. So far like what I've seen. They also make an updated rescue executable available on their website for download.
It has a nice, clean interface with LOTS of customization options. Its also easy on system resources and only needs 250 MB to install.
On the Enterprise version's Default Policy, you'll need to spend some time going through the policy and enable the active protection since it's not on by default, probably so it doesn't interfere with a PC's currently installed A/V program. The Enterprise console can uninstall a computer's existing A/V program and deploy Vipre to it.
Oh yeah, most importantly, when I ran into some issues and needed a hand setting up the policies, I called Tech Support and without pressing a thousand buttons and waiting no more than 5 min, I spoke to a sharp sounding tech in California who I could understand CLEARLY and wasn't reading from a script (I cringe when an overly polite outsourced phone rep asks "may I know your name? ). So their Tech support = very impressive. Try calling Symantec for A/V software support.
